27 Feb Posted by in SEO, Trending | Comments

SEO is one of the areas that is often overlooked as part of a marketing strategy, however, it’s one of the more essential parts of a marketing strategy and should not be forgotten. In the last four years, this technique has been rapidly evolving. Algorithms change often making Search Engine Optimization even more necessary to match the new standards set. The evolution of the strategy is moving towards a holistic approach, integrating almost everyone involved in digital media – Community Managers, CMO’s and even Designers – all assisting with the same task, to properly optimize a website.

seo mistakes bloggers should avoid The Top SEO Trends of 2015

We’re fans of a great Search Engine Optimization strategy and as 2015 starts to finally settle in, we’ve developed the top five trends that we find important for this year.

1.    Mobile is king.

We’re not strangers to the fact that Google and other Search Engines are penalizing webpages that do not provide optimization for mobile. As mobile usage increases, SEO strategies need to adjust as well to suit the requirements of these consumers. Mobile and desktop algorithms are not the same; therefore it’s crucial to understand how each works to enjoy a competitive advantage.

2.    Brand mentions.

According to Jayson DeMers for Forbes: “brand mentions and citations will become as powerful as links”. New Google manuals are shifted towards recognizing these as more important, due to the fact that in the past link building was over utilized by brands. The best way to get your brand out there is by mentioning it in any content you post online – social media, web content, or even blogs.

3.    Content optimization via videos.

Kissmetrics published a study in wich they released the fact that 64% to 85% of consumers are most likely to purchase a product or service after watching a video. The creation of quality audiovisuals posted with the right hashtags and descriptions can go a very long way for a brand; not to mention that if the content becomes viral, the odds are 50% higher.

4.    Facebook and Twitter will become more important.

The imminent failure of Google+ has led the company to include other Social Media giants such as Facebook and Twitter as a determining factor for a company’s SEO strategy. This change means that it’s essential to create integrated content for several social media platforms, rather than just one, and Google (as well as other search engines) reward the brand for it, by pushing them toward the top.

5.    SEO will be less about strategy and more about building relationships.

There are a lot of ways to release SEO campaigns, however 2015 trends show it pays to be more humanized. Managers should worry about building relationships with consumers, internal clients, suppliers, influencers and even the competition to become more relevant. Remember, brand mentions will be as big as links, therefore, by building relationships you can increase the frequency of mentions and online performance.

By implementing these trends a brand will most likely succeed in search engines. However, it is important to remind you that SEO is still a tool of constant change, this is why we suggest keeping up with any information and that surrounds the topic.

What do you think? Are these five trends accurate?
