Here’s the scenario: Your business just recently had a brilliant website developed. It’s interactive, colorful and, best of all, professional. Your last one sucked, but this one is great. This is something that you’re excited to tell everyone about.
But don’t worry, you’re not necessarily alone. There are, undoubtedly, plenty of businesses out there that also have a website but neglect to ever talk about it.
But refusing to market your website in any meaningful manner can be just as bad as having a poorly designed web site, too. With that said, here are just some of the ways in which you can drum up interest in your website, and greatly increase visitors.
Recently, I wrote about how blogging can be hugely beneficial in helping you to develop a better understanding of your industry.
And certainly, that’s part of the reason why blogging can be important for your business. It helps you to better understand your own business, and it might also help you develop a better understanding of your customers expectations.
But another important aspect of blogging is just how beneficial it can be for Google page rankings and in helping build your website’s credibility.
Additionally, blogging gives potential customers another path in which to potentially find your website. The more information and posts that your blog contains, the higher the probability that, through searches, customers may find your website. And the more extensive your writing is, the wider that net becomes.
Social media is undoubtedly an important tool for businesses to engage their customers. As social media evolves through tools like Twitter and Facebook, so does business. And, undoubtedly, social media is evolving at an alarming rate.
But Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare, among others, are also great places to market your website. Because a huge amount of people are constantly engaging with those platforms on a regular basis, encouraging friends, family and fans to visit your web page is a simply, and easy method to help build web traffic.
Additionally, encouraging users to visit your website with some sort of additional incentive or an interesting blog will ensure that people actually have a reason to click through to your website.
And while the Internet is typically a highly efficient and cost-effective way to market your website, print media can also be extremely important, too. Business cards, fliers, menus and other forms of print media can all be crafted, relatively inexpensively, to reflect your business’s website.
Additionally, ensuring that there are signs within your business location or store indicating that you actually have a website will help to further increase your businesses visibility on the web.
You probably spend far too much of your time communicating with people through e-mail, and you probably hate it for that. But e-mail is an important way to correspond with potential customers and clients.
It’s also a great way to spread word about your website. E-mailing current and potential clients and customers about your new website, and including it in all of your e-mail signatures is an easy and surefire way to get additional visitors for your website. Just don’t be spammy. Nobody likes spam.
But these are just some of the most basic ways in which you can increase the visibility of your business’s website, and, in turn, your business as a whole.
The most important thing to remember is that your website, regardless of how brilliantly designed it is and how much it cost you, won’t advertise itself. So regardless of whether or not you utilize all or just some of these methods for increasing your website’s traffic, know that your effort will not go unrewarded. The more you market your web page, the higher the probability is that you’ll also pull in more traffic.
